Individuals and households who do not have Internet access are provided with a broadband connection and are loaned a special computer called the “simPC”. The simPC is a small and simple device that makes use of centralized support and maintenance (see www.simpc.nl). It is operated by large “buttons” for the most frequently used functions, and has screens that are designed to be readable by elderly people. The computer and the broadband Internet connection are installed for the panel participants. If necessary, they can also get help at home to show them how to complete the questionnaires on screen.
